I've summarized my top 10 tips to live a happy life. The challenge that a lot of people face is that they think they'll be happy WHEN they achieve something and that is the biggest myth of success you can possibly believe.
I went through a period of years in my life, where I knew what I wanted so bad… but I would find myself on the couch binge-watching TV having these "bad days" like 4 days a week. It was terrible. I was just depressed and even worse- I was pissed off that I was depressed. I was immobilized. I knew exactly what I needed to do like my computer was staring at me to do it, but I just didn't care… but I cared so much at the same time. And it hurt. I was so confused, and I thought that if I could finally succeed in my business, I could relax. Do you ever feel that? Like an attachment to success?
And business is all you think about, right? But when it comes time to work on your business, you either crush it and still feel empty inside or don't complete your to-do list and feel guilty about it, or you don't do anything out of fear! And even if you do happen to take action, it's not something that actually moves your business forward. It hurts, right?
And it leads to just sitting there, frustrated, wishing you finally had success. I lived that way for years. I believed that happiness was a destination and it was a result of my success, a result of walking across stage, a result of having hundreds of thousands of dollars flowing in.
But I've learned something. If that's you, even if you achieve success, you'll still be miserable. Because you're missing an essential thing.
Business, money, and success do not create happiness. Think about it. How many people do you know that have money but are still miserable?
Happiness creates success. When you're truly happy, you can achieve success the right way because your happiness isn't at risk of going away based on your achievements. You'll be happy regardless, and that allows you to achieve the right way. The fulfilling way. The way that leaves a legacy. The way that touches lives. The way that makes the world better. And sure, a by-product of that is money.
But you know the cliché, "You can't pour from a cup that's empty?" You can't serve from an empty cup. So if your happiness is dependent on a goal, you're not fulfilled, so you can't actually help people the same way you could if you were happy.
So here's my top 10. If you do these things, you'll find happiness creeping into your life more frequently. And the likelihood of success happening the right way will increase. So I challenge you to go through this list, rate yourself on a scale of 1-10 for each item, and see which ones you can improve today to live a happier, more smile filled life! :)
The gateway to abundance. If you aren't grateful for what you currently have, you'll never create what you want. And since you want MORE, gratitude is your biggest key to your success. Scale of 1-10.
Unhappy people have a mindset of blame. Happy people have a mindset of responsibility. Even things that ARE NOT your fault, you must take responsibility for how you respond. Because YOU are responsible for your life. Scale of 1-10.
Biochemically, you'll feel better when you move. Period. You need to take care of this machine you're living in! Most of the world is lugging around this beautiful piece of equipment. They're so tired that they don't have the energy to live their purpose. Your job is to take care of this machine, so you have the energy to LIVE your purpose. Scale of 1-10.
The biggest life hack in the world is getting around people who are already doing what you think is impossible. Your life instantly improves when you're always around people who are playing life on a higher level than you. Scale of 1-10.
Leaders are readers. You can compress decades of learning into days by reading the works of the most inspirational people of all time. You start to think like the author, and you take on their beliefs that you can live the life you want. Scale of 1-10.
Simply put, you will feel happier if you set a huge goal and come up short instead of a little goal that you know you can hit. Why? Because you'll know it's not the best job you could've done. Raise your standards. Dream friggin HUGE. Scale of 1-10.
It's not to say that what they did was right. You forgive to become free of suppressed emotions that you are subconsciously spreading to the world. Think of this as removing the splinter from your life. Forgive THEM so YOU can live a great life. Scale of 1-10.
Without a vision for your life, where are you headed? Can you see the future? Where do you want your life to end up? Do you know what you want? A compelling future is what will PULL YOU toward your dreams (Instead of pushing so freaking hard to go nowhere). Scale of 1-10.
This is something you BRING to your day to day situations. Energy is psychological. Do you "life up" everything you do? Do you broadcast only good news? Do you take care of your health? Do you make others feel important? Can other people feel the energy in your smile? Scale of 1-10.
You go through the process of growth for one reason. So you can give. It's not for the money. In fact, when you achieve, what's the first thing you want to do? Share it! You go through life to make other people feel more amazing. You'll do so much more for others than you'll do for yourself. So, do you give!? Scale of 1-10.
There you have it, my friend! Your 10-point checklist to lasting happiness! Rate those items on a scale of 1-10. Then ask yourself where you want those numbers to be and who you would have to become to get there!
Because when you truly live this way, you'll find lasting happiness. And when you find lasting happiness, you find the resourcefulness to create a great business, the mindsets to focus on the most important things, the patience the get through your challenges, and the peace that allows you to stay committed to your goals without being attached to the outcome.
