Three Mandates of Leadership by Tony Robbins

A Great Leader sees things as they are NOT worse than they are.

What does that mean? Catastrophizing or exaggerating situations, building a negative narrative when there isn't. A great leader focuses on facts, NOT stories.

 A Great Leader sees things BETTER than they are.

A great leader has a vision for what they are creating. A lot of people focus solely on trying to avoid pain, conflict, or failure but what they don't realize is that they are only fighting for the “next best thing.” This is a great start, but it’s not enough to lead an extraordinary life on your terms. To live an extraordinary life on your own terms you need to be pulled by a compelling vision of the future, not pushed.

A Great Leader MAKES it better than it is.

How does he/she do that?

Integrity, the most important key to Leadership.

Integrity is about leading yourself and embodying the values of the team you are leading. How can you possibly lead a team when you cannot lead yourself?

When you are by yourself what do you do? Who are you when no one is looking? Are you the role model you want your team to aspire to or do you do things that you would prefer others not to know about?

Three keys to influencing someone:

1. Teach people how to think
2. Challenge people's thinking in a loving way
3. Be the example of those challenges
