All suffering comes from expectations.

It comes from a feeling that things should be a certain way, so if you keep expecting things to be like they used to be, it will be incredibly hard to move forward during this time.

Great leaders adapt.

Great leaders see uncertainty and they step into that uncertainty with certainty.

Certainty is something you DO.

You are in an uncertain situation. Want to win?!

It's really simple and I’ll show you how!!

Right now, we are in an uncertain time and if you’re feeling any pain during this time, it’s because of one thing…

Your expectations. It comes down to you thinking that things should be different instead of appreciating how things are. Have you noticed lately that it’s really easy to want to numb your feelings…alcohol…food…sweets…coffee…and more coffee…

OR have you noticed yourself being more irritable lately? Or all of the above?!

Those types of things are normal when your expectations are not being met.

All of these attempts to numb come down to you wanting to change your emotional state.

That's all it is!

You want to change your emotional state. You want to feel differently during this time. And if you have expectations of how things should be during this time and your focus is one how things SHOULD be…you’re not winning. You’re not making the most of this time, so let’s shift your expectations.

First, uncertainty breeds fear (and that’s okay!) It’s okay for you to be afraid and acknowledge it during this time. BUT, great leaders know how to step into uncertainty and bring certainty to the situation.

Shine the light of honesty on how you’re feeling, and you will feel better instantly. 

Here are 3 steps to help you navigate your expectations:

#1) Release expectations

Write this down: “It shouldn’t be different. It just is!”

All suffering comes from the expectation that your life should be different. If we accept how it is (now)…

We bring certainty to it.

We bring gratitude to it.

We practice acceptance and appreciation.

#2) What do you want to feel?!

Pick an area of your life that you think should be different. An area that is hard or where you are not happy and instead be grateful!

Chances are your life conditions don't match how you think they should be.  That’s the formula for unhappiness.

So, the area(s) that you think should be different…what if you tried being grateful instead?!

Grateful for that banking account overdraft email!

Grateful for the time you are spending with your spouse!

Grateful you get to spend this time with your children!

If you practice gratitude on a regular basis…you will win right now!

#3) GIVE that feeling to other people!

Whatever emotion you are desiring to feel…instead GIVE that emotion right now!

If you want to feel happiness…give happiness to the people around you right now!

If you want to feel joy…give joy to those around you!

If you want to feel love…LOVE those around you or call someone and give them love!

If you wish you had more money…instead GIVE money to someone that needs it!

You will feel better instantly!!

Right now, so many people are focused on the negative. We don’t want to judge them for that, but we do want to be their beacon of light to direct them toward the good, the happiness, the joy that is available to us all NOW.

Homework for you: Take inventory!

What areas of your life are you struggling in and what are your expectations in those areas?

How are you suffering?

Are you feeling sad? Frustrated? Angry?

Now what emotions do you want to feel?!

Do you want to feel joy?!

Do you want to feel abundance?!

Do you want to feel fearless?!

Do you want to feel happiness?!

Write that down!

Human beings will have so much more for other people than they ever have for themselves. There is no greater feeling in the world than giving to others, so GIVE!

Give Joy!

Give Happiness!

Give Abundantly!

That's how you build self-esteem!

That's how you build self-confidence!

You give those emotions to other people. That's what great leaders do!!

Release expectations and start appreciating where you are now.
